Outer Banks Motels are available, although perhaps not as populous as
the hotel chains or cabin rentals.  Most hotels on the island are chain sponsored and while some vacationers perhaps the familiar, others like to experience the local accommodations.  Most motels are connected rooms, which have parking available so that you may drive up to your door and conveniently park.

Some “motels” with the design of the 1940’s and 1950’s actually have
individual cabins, some with a sleeping room or two, along with a bathroom, others add a living area and or kitchenette.
Outer Banks Motels generally have all rooms grouped together and allow
convenient parking, unlike cabins or cottages, which sometimes are spread
across an area and afford some privacy from other cabins or cottages.

Make reservations at the lodging of your choice or you may have to
take whatever is left, rather than having the room of your choice.
