On Roanoke Island you may get face-to-face with an electric eel. Outer Banks activities within the aquarium are varied and fascinating. The North Carolina Aquarium has within it tarantulas, venomous snakes, and lionfish, all contained in their newest exhibit. Of course there are sharks and scores of other species to cruise by in the windows of the largest salt water tank in the state of North Carolina, the Outer Banks Aquarium. Do not tell the children it is educational, they will never realize. A great day for the family, to take you out of the sun, or out of the rain and truly amazing. You may find the children talking to their friends about the sea creatures they saw.
Outer Banks Activities would not be complete without a visit to the Outer Banks aquarium to experience ” Storms” . This exhibit takes you inside a hurricane for a personal look at the Outer Banks experience. The Outer Banks Aquarium has a variety of displays including the coastal freshwater display. Here you can see striped bass, large mouthed bass, alligators and the river otter.
Admission prices are very reasonable.
