Outer Banks 4×4 Beach Rentals are available in several communities; however, there is a 17-mile long beach area that can only be accessed by four-wheel drive vehicles. On this area alone, there are over 900 4 x 4 beach rentals available.
Rented on a reoccurring basis, preference is given to the previous renter, with property holds required the Monday after they vacate the premises for the next year. Only about sixty percent return, so a new comer still has a good chance of finding a property that will suit their needs.
Properties of all sizes from cottages to ten bedroom homes are available. Many have private pools, hot tubs and internet access. The majority are waterfront on the Atlantic or Sound side of the islands. Some are pet friendly.
Some properties while only accessible by a 4 x 4 vehicle are only 10 minutes from shopping, others 20-25 minutes. The majority of these properties are privately owned and maintained, but work through agencies, which handle the paperwork for the rentals. This would be an adventurous vacation and surprise costs are no more than renting the same size home on any other area of the Outer Banks.
The last and least developed area of the Outer Banks the wild horses of the Outer Banks roam free and catching a glimpse of these unique animals could be a daily occurrence. The areas around the homes are dense maritime forest, and protected nature preserves, or in other words, just as it were hundreds of years ago. A perfect place for the perfect vacation or family reunion.
